Mr Chew Heng Ching is a prominent member of the Corporate Community in Singapore. For many years, he has been involved in developing and promoting good corporate governance practices. He is the Pounding President of the Singapore Institute of Directors and Chairman of its Governing Council Horn 1998 – 2009. He served on the Corporate Governance Committee and the Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance. He is a Board Member and was Chairman of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce from 2005 – 2002. He was a Council Member of Singapore Business Federation.

Mr Chew has more than 30 years of senior management experience in both the public and private sectors. He was Chairmen/CEO/MD of various public and private companies in the past. He now sits on the Board of various public-listed companies and chairs their various board committees. He also served on the Board of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities and Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Koran Hospital.

Mr Chew was a former Deputy Speaker of the Singapore Parliament and a Member of Parliament from 1965 to 2006. He was Chairman of Estimates (Budget) Committee and sat on the Public Accounts Committee. He was the co-ordinating Chairman of all PAP Town Councils in Singapore.

Mr Chew, who started his career in the Government Administrative Service, is a graduate, under a Colombo Plan Scholarship, in Industrial Engineering (First Class Honours) and Economics from the University of Newcastle, Australia. A university gold medalist, he also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering from the same university. He is a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors and CPA Australia.
