RHT GRACE INSTITUTE FORUM 2021

About The Event

The RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute (RGI) is a social enterprise initiated by RHT Rajan Menon Foundation, a registered charity and grant-making philanthropic organisation in Singapore. RGI seeks to establish a culture and creed of raising consciousness and encouraging ethical leadership in, and growing a community of, values-aligned mindfully ethical leaders, professionals and businesses.

Mission and Vision

RGI’s core principles are based on good Governance, Risk management, AML (Anti-money laundering), Compliance & ESG/Ethics, which we endeavour to infuse into an organisation’s business model and culture by establishing standards and precedents for expected behaviour in decision making amongst business leaders and professionals.

RGI seeks to elevate an organisation from good to great, embedding its principles in members’ business models, organizational strategy and decision-making processes and influencing them to become custodians and champions of GRACE principles.

RGI Forum 2021

Sustainability – What used to be a trendy buzzword once bandied about by marketing departments and environmental groups has become a ubiquitous topic of discussion from student dorm rooms to corporate boardrooms, from basements to parliaments.

As countries around the world are beginning to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, global leaders from around the world gathered in Glasgow, Scotland for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). The conference seeks to have countries review and renew their commitments to ending their contributions to climate change. The goals of COP26 are:

  1. Mitigation – Secure global net zero (emissions) by mid-century and limit any global warming to within 1.5 degrees Celsius
  2. Adaptation – Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
  3. Finance – Mobilise finance
  4. Collaboration – Working together to deliver

Against this backdrop, the RGI Forum will address the 4 COP26 goals from the perspective of the GRACE principles, specifically Governance, Risk, Compliance and Ethics.

Join us for feedback from attendees of the COP26 Conference, to provide hot-off-the-press views of the conference talks, as well as a series of panel discussions on Governance, Risk, Compliance and Ethical issues relating to sustainability.

Finally, we will have a session on Sustainability in ASEAN, with a focus on Finance and Collaboration.

In July this year, a Policy Paper on Voluntary Carbon Markets in ASEAN was prepared for the British High Commission (and Singapore Green Finance Centre) aimed at supporting policy development and the UK’s international COP26 objectives in Singapore and across Southeast Asia. The Paper focus on the following areas: 1) energy transition, 2) nature-based solutions, 3) green finance, and 4) adaptation and resilience.

The papers provide a high-level understanding of the challenges and opportunities arising from climate science and policymaking in the ASEAN region, as we seek to transition to a greener economy.

This session will focus on the discussion of the report’s third thematic area – the green finance by some of the principal co-authors and contributors of the COP26 report. It will examine the rationale for carbon credits to be traded across ASEAN and assesses the role of institutional investors and regulators in developing a regional voluntary carbon market (VCM).

The authors will also address :
● The importance of effective policy and governance, and deep-dive into emerging net zero strategies
● How country and industry commitments will be tracked and monitored vis-à-vis net zero targets
● The implications if Article 6 objectives are not met
● Governance issues in sustainability finance particularly for carbon markets
